چکیده
Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) is one of the most important and widely grown vegetable crops both during rainy dry seasons for its fruit by smallholder farmers, commercial state private farms in Ethiopia. Field study was conducted 2018 to 2020 cropping season at highland areas West Hararghe aimed evaluating performance recently released tomato varieties. Treatments used were composed three varieties (Gelilema, Chali & ARP-Tomato-d2) arranged a randomized complete block design (RCBD). Traits such as plant height, number primary branches, days 50% flowering, maturity, clusters per plant, fruits cluster, weight, unmarketable yield, marketable yield total analyzed using R software (R 3.4.1). According analysis variance, found cause significant (p ≤ 0.001) difference height (cm), branches flowering (days), maturity weight (gmfruit-1), (tha-1) while non-significantly affected Hence, highest (60cm), (53 days), (102days), (9 numberplant-1), cluster (14 plant-1), (4.33 cluste-1), (30.33tha-1) (33.33tha-1) recorded with variety Gelilema. Among evaluated, Gelilema showed best performances components tomato. Therefore, superior these parameters, recommended maximize productivity production

In vitro flowering and fruiting in tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.)
In vitro flowering and fruiting were induced in plants regenerated from calli of leaf explants of Lycopersicon esculentum var. Pant 11. MS medium supplemented with 2 mg/l BAP displayed the best response followed by MS with 2 mg/l BAP, 1 mg/ l ABA and 0.5 mg/l IAA. Flower buds were developed both directly from callus and regenerated plantlets from leaf explants under 16 h (39.3 μmol m-2s-1) phot...
متن کاملProteomic analysis of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum) pollen.
In flowering plants, pollen grains are produced in the anther and released to the external environment with the primary function of delivering sperm cells to the female gametophyte. This study was conducted to identify proteins in tomato pollen and to analyse their roles in relation to pollen function. Tomato is an important crop which is grown worldwide and is an excellent experimental system....
متن کاملProducts Released from Enzymically Active Cell Wall Stimulate Ethylene Production and Ripening in Preclimacteric Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) Fruit.
Enzymically active cell wall from ripe tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) fruit pericarp release uronic acids through the action of wall-bound polygalacturonase. The potential involvement of products of wall hydrolysis in the induction of ethylene synthesis during tomato ripening was investigated by vacuum infiltrating preclimacteric (green) fruit with solutions containing pectin fragments ...
متن کاملCharacterization of an Ethylene Overproducing Mutant of Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill. Cultivar VFN8).
Ethylene production rates and tissue ethylene concentrations were determined for the single-gene, Epinastic (Epi) tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) mutant, and its parent, cv VFN8. The Epi phenotype was characterized by severe leaf epinasty, thickened stems and petioles, and a compact growth habit. In 4-day-old seedlings, ethylene production was significantly higher in Epi than in VFN8. Et...
متن کاملDifferences in Rubisco and Chlorophyll Content among Tissues and Growth Stages in Two tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) Varieties
Ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase oxygenase (Rubisco) is a key enzyme in the photosynthetic assimilation of CO2 and the most abundant leaf protein. The amounts of chlorophyll (chl) and Rubisco have often been considered, respectively, as indices of light harvesting and Calvin cycle capacities of leaves. The purpose of this study was to analyze the changes in chlorophyll content and the leve...
